As the name denote, OHM NZ care is about our members, community and people at large living in New Zealand and India. We are into the charity work form the beginning of our inception. We wanted to be at the forefront of supporting and extending our hands to all at times of their difficulties and any calamities or Covid like situations.

The charity works we have undertaken so far are listed below.

To enable us to undertake more such activities and be the first one to respond to these situations, we need to always have and maintain a permanent corpus for this purpose under our disposal.

Keeping this in mind we have now created some permanent funds to which we solicit and ask you all to donate generously. Any amount received big or small will help us to respond promptly in future and we value all your contributions

2021-2022

India Covid Support

In the start of the Covid pandemic in India, the Indian Counsel General made an appeal to all Indian community organisations to support India by providing Oxygen cylinders which was in urgent need of that time, and we started collecting funds through a Give a Little page and other sources immediately. We collected some $8,070, out of which $5,000/- was paid to NZICA for shipping Oxygen cylinders to India .

Also $3,080/- was paid to Seva Bharathi International for general Covid related community support for people in Kerala.

Covid related Community support

Joined the Indian Consulate in their community support programme for the needy with food parcels during the Covid time, we donated some $1,000/- worth of food items to them.

We also paid some $500/- to one of our needy members.

Also, to support the cultural artists related to temples in Kerala, we have paid some $1,500/-.

Humanitarian support

Recently we paid some $,1,000/- to a family who lost their breadwinner due to cancer recently. Even though they need more support we could not be due to our current financial status. Since the start of Covid, we didn’t have any ticketed programmes which are our main source of funding.

2020-2021

Nidhi medical treatment cost support

One of our member’s eleven years old daughter, Nidhi, suffering from cancer was in urgent need of financial support for further treatment overseas. We in cooperation with the Give a Little page managed to collect and pay some $39,000/- to their family. Unfortunately, she succumbed to the disease and left us for her heavenly abode shortly after this.

2018-2019

Kerala Flood Relief

The unprecedented flooding happened in the State of Kerala, India, which affected most of the population throughout the state in the month of August 2018. In solidarity with the sufferings of the people of Kerala we cancelled our planned Onam celebration that month and started a flood relief fund collection drive among our members and collected close to $9,000/-.  Aiming to provide direct support to the needy one and to supervise and support the flood relief activities undertaken in Kerala by AMHS two of our members, Shantha and Maju Nair travelled to Kerala immediately. They spend some time there helping people to repair their damaged houses and returned.

2017-2018
