I am a Software programmer by profession, a Mohiniyattom dancer, and a keen enthusiast of traditional art forms(Indian or otherwise).   Having born and brought up in the cultural hub Tripunithura, my passions are deeply rooted in traditional Kerala temple culture, arts and Sanathana dharma.  I moved to New Zealand in the early 2000s and started my work with a software company and continue to work in the Software industry.

I wish to bring to our community as much traditional Kerala Hindu experiences as possible.  I wish to give our children a space to experience and learn the different aspects of Sanathana Dharma and thus grow in them the values of “Lokaha Samasthaha Sukhino Bhavanthu” and “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”.

I have had the honor of serving on OHM’s executive committee before this term. My vision for OHM is to see it grow into an umbrella organization that caters to all Hindus in New Zealand, becoming a financially self-sufficient hub where people eagerly join to be part of a vibrant community celebrating the rich traditions and festivals of Kerala in all its glory.  I am committed to fostering an organization that excels in seva and is always ready to help anyone in need. My dedication to preserving and promoting Hindu Malayali culture through OHM is driven by a deep sense of duty to give back and serve the community.

Namaskaram! When I first came to this country, I felt a deep sense of longing for my family back home. Overtime, I was fortunate to meet new friends who became like family to me, making me realise that I have found a home away from home. My dedication to our culture and values has always been a guiding light, bringing me closer to our community. This connection inspired me to seek ways to serve, leading me to this organisation.

This is my second time serving OHM and the community and it fills me with immense joy and pride. On the personal note, I am working in the Media industry and have been living in Auckland for the past fifteen years with my beautiful family. My life motto is simple, yet powerful “Believe in yourself and you will achieve”

Our vision is anchored in the timeless principles of Sanathana Dharma, which I am deeply committed to. I aim to bring the community together by upholding these values and by celebrating our rich cultural heritage with respect and pride, ensuring it is cherished by generations to come

Dhanya
Joint Secretary

Portfolio: Cultural Events

I am a Statistical and Data analyst by profession. We moved as a family to the land of long white cloud in 2008. Apart from numbers, what fascinates me is working with people, developing relationships, learning more about different cultures and engaging with the wider community. My previous roles as a teacher and an educational leader both in India and New Zealand has enabled me to liaise with various community groups and work alongside people from diverse cultures.  Furthermore, this experience has helped me to develop an inclusive approach in serving the community whilst traversing on a path to learn more about my own culture and do my bit for its preservation and promotion.

If I am not working, you will find me dancing (Mohiniyattom and Bollywood) and singing. My family here comprises my husband Sujith Nair, a health professional and my 17 year old son Sanjay.

My efforts during my tenure as a Joint secretary would be aligned with my passion for cultural preservation and promotion. I will be leading the planning and execution of cultural events and activities within OHM NZ. I aim to keep the traditions and values of Hindu Malayalees alive and vibrant with your valuable support and blessings.
